Hello my name is Chris Godbey and I am manager of Bread for Life Community Food Pantry here in Nelson County KY. Our ministry is a community effort to combat hunger and many of your churches and congregations partner with us in this ministry. Some of our volunteers who are members of Wickland church recommended I reach out and I spoke with Stan Lowery yesterday. We are a ministry that serves between 600-700 families and distributes 60,000 pounds of food per month to low income families in Nelson County. We are not your normal food pantry which provides a pre-made box of food, but we are a “client choice” food pantry which means we are set up like a grocery store and families, assisted by a volunteer, get to choose the groceries they take home with them. We believe that dignity and compassion is a real way to acknowledge that all human beings have been created in the image of God and loved by Jesus.
We would like to possibly set up a table at your annual gathering to network and create possible partnerships with local churches through monetary, volunteer, or other support. Many of your congregations may already be involved with this ministry and for that we are grateful.
Please check us out on Facebook at Bread for Life Community Food Pantry St. Vincent de Paul.
