Breakout Sessions:
1) Protecting the Vulnerable: Child Abuse & Sexual Assault Awareness for Churches by Katie Williams. This breakout session will equip church leaders and volunteers with practical tools to recognize warning signs of child abuse and sexual assault. Participants will learn appropriate reporting guidelines and steps to create a safer church environment for children and vulnerable individuals. The session will also highlight preventative practices churches can implement to protect their congregations and respond responsibly to concerns. Katie is a prevention specialist at Silverleaf, a rape crisis and child advocacy center. She holds a Master’s degree in forensic psychology and finishing up a second Master’s degree in social work. She is on the Central Kentucky Human Trafficking Task Force and serves as a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
2) The Double-Edged Blade of Artificial Intelligence by James VanMeter. Artificial Intelligence is the next big thing and is being incorporated into almost everything. In this breakout session you will discover the advantages that A.I. can bring to everyday life while also candidly examining the real disadvantages. This session will help inform you on the potential of A.I. and help you adopt clear strategies to use A.I. wisely in your personal context. James is a software engineer with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and certifications in web and back-end development. He specializes in building scalable systems and developing efficient, user-focused applications. He currently works at CoverMyMeds, a Fortune 10 company and one of the largest healthcare organizations in the world,where he helps create technology that improves access to medications and streamlines communication across the healthcare system. James is also a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
