Strengthening Leaders, Strengthening Churches in August

Tuesday, August 31
Preparing the Church for Persecution
Led by: Nik & Ruth Ripken
Former IMB Missionaries

Nik and Ruth Ripken have interviewed approximately 700 Believers in Persecution in 72 countries. What these followers of Jesus have taught us has literally filled books and echo the lives of Biblical heroes. If we distill all that we have learned from these giants of the faith who live daily in environments of persecution into concentrated truths we find three prophetic, non-negotiables. All believers should apply and use these truths to shape their understanding, approach and lifestyle. Believers in Persecution teach us that we must offer ourselves as an offering as we witness to the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We partner with the Body of Christ around the globe as we go to people in darkness across our streets and across the oceans with the Good News.

Nik Ripken is the world’s leading expert on the persecuted church in Muslim contexts. He is a missions veteran of 30 years, having served primarily in North Africa and the Middle East. He is the author of The Insanity of God and the new book The Insanity of Obedience. He and his wife have done extensive research on the persecuted church and on Muslim background believers in approximately 72 countries.

Day of Prayer for the Nelson Baptist Association (Day 8)

Sunday, October 25, 2020

Over the past week we have prayed for every church, pastor, mission partner, and ministry in our association. Today, we want to have a time of prayer for the upcoming evangelistic outreach initiative called “The Gospel To Every Home.” The Gospel to Every Home is a cooperative initiative to mobilize Kentucky Baptists in prayerfully delivering a set of gospel resources to each of the 1.7+ homes in the Commonwealth. Ultimately, the goal is for every Kentuckian to have multiple opportunities to hear and respond to the Good News of Jesus Christ.

All of the resources have been provided (Door Hangers, The Jesus Film on DVD, Gospel Tracts) and are ready for your church to pick up at the association office. We ask that you include your own church’s information in the bags to pass out. Many churches are using this outreach as an opportunity to invite their communities to Easter services next year.

Our association has provided three planning meetings, spread out over the association for your benefit:

1) Mercy Hill – Oct. 25th at 3:00 pm

2) FBC Mt Washington – Oct. 26th at 1:00 pm

3) Parkway – Oct. 29th at 6:30 pm

If your church would like to participate then you can sign up at this link:
