POSTPONED: Executive Board Meeting

Tonight’s Executive Board meeting has been postponed due to the potential for inclimate weather to arrive during tonight’s meeting.

The Executive Board Meeting will be rescheduled for February 18, 7pm at Vine Hill Baptist Church. (There will be no meal before this meeting.)

This meeting will be hosted by the Association’s Church and Community Ministry Team. The evening will feature a meal and updates from the CCMTeam on their ministries.

RISK: 2014 State Evangelism Conference – Feb 24-25

The RISK 2014: State Evangelism Conference will be February 24-25 at the Severns Valley Baptist Church in Elizabeth town.

There’s no charge to attend RISK, but registration is requested. All those who register will be eligible for a drawing to win an iPad! Registration will be available on their website.

Association Church Ministry & Event Promotion

Nelson Baptist Association Churches:

The Nelson Baptist Association would love to serve your church by helping you communicate your ministry events to other churches in the association and by keeping you informed of what events you might wish to share with your congregation.

Here are three ways we can help you connect on the internet:

If you browse past posts, you’ll notice we’ve recently announced a fund-raiser for The New Life Center, a Kentucky Baptist Convention conference, a men’s event at Bullitt Lick Baptist Church, and a Women’s Conference at the Bardstown Christian Fellowship. These are all in addition to normal NBA events, announcements, and cancellations.

Anyone can subscribe to this blog by entering their email in the box in the right hand column on this page.

Once an event is published on the blog, it automatically is posted on two other sites:

(2) Our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/nelsonbaptistassociation).

(3) Our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/NelsonBaptist).

These two popular social networking sites will broaden the reach of our announcements, not only to those in our churches but to their friends and neighbors as well, as they share and highlight announcements.

How can you help? There are two easy ways for you to help us serve you.

First, remember share your events with us. If you have a ministry event you’d like to invite other churches or the public to attend, please email or mail the details to the NBA office (contact info below). Upon approval, we’ll place the event on the blog. (We’re also planning to develop a newsletter, especially for those churches without internet usage.)

Even if your church does not use any of these online resources, remember that many of the people you are trying to reach may use them. By allowing us to help you publicize your ministry events, you may be able to reach more people in your communities.

Second, please share these sites with your congregation. Please consider letting your congregation know, through your own website, newsletter, or bulletin, that the Association is now online by sharing these links:

Again, even if your church does not use them, many individual members may. This is a helpful way to keep them connected. When one person shares or highlights an event online, it has the potential to reach everyone they are connected with.

Sweet Life! Dessert Comedy Theater, March 8 at Pleasant Grove

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church is hosting the Sweet Life! Dessert Comedy Theatre, featuring Christian comedian Scott Davis, on March 8 at 8pm, followed by deserts and fellowship.

Tickets are required and can be purchased through the church. Adult tickets are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. Students (K-12) are $7.

2014 Helicopter Egg Drop

Association churches are encouraged and invited to participate in the 2014 Helicopter Egg Drop, which will be held April 12, 11am-2pm, at the Bullitt County Fairgrounds.

Here’s an invitation letter from event organizers Nathan Young and Jeremy Willis:

Dear local church,

Last year Shepherdsville welcomed a great event with hopes of becoming an annual family activity: The Egg Drop. This event was a great opportunity to love on the city of Shepherdsville and to give families an opportunity to make memories in a safe environment. All of the kids who received candy, in exchange of eggs dropped from a helicopter (of course!) were given a coloring book with the gospel message outlined. The families were also able to play games and win prizes from local area churches. Those who participated were given information about Easter Services in the Shepherdsville area.

This year we would like to invite you to be a part of the 2014 Egg Drop. The Egg Drop will take place on April 12 at the Bullitt County Fair Grounds. Prior to this event there is much to be done. Prayer is vital as the hope is to reach the community with the gospel through love and providing direction for families in Shepherdsville to spend Easter at one of the churches in our community.

Volunteers will also be needed. On the day of the Egg Drop each churches will have the opportunity to sponsor a game booth for the children in attendance to play a game and receive a small prize. There will also be a need for volunteers at craft booths so that each child will be able to make a bracelet to remind them of the gospel message. Volunteers will also be needed before The Egg Drop on April 8 to put bags of candy together for the children.

The budget for the Egg Drop is $4,000. So far there is approximately $3,000 committed with most of the sponsorship from Journey Christian Church, Mercy Hill Baptist Church and the Nelson Baptist Association. It would be ideal for churches to donate a minimum of $200 to help with expenses including, but not limited to, rental of the fairgrounds, candy, helicopter pilot, advertisement and print. Candy donation is also a great way to help.

Every family who wishes to attend the Egg Drop will be asked to pre-register their children. Upon pre-registering the family will provide their name, e-mail address, phone number and church affiliation (if any). Everyone who registers will receive a follow up e-mail the next week, in time for Easter, containing information about the churches participating and church service information. Those who register who indicate they would like further information about church or the gospel will receive a personal phone call from one of the participating churches. A tangible goal of The Egg Drop is for as many families as possible to attend an Easter Service to hear the gospel message and to put their hope in Christ as their Savior.
